Istanbul - A View Through The Window
Project type
Solo exhibition, Residence of Princess Ljubica, Belgrade City Museum, Belgrade, Serbia, 2016
Technique
Artist’s book, drawing, collage, photography and mixed media
Istanbul: A View Through the Window emerged from observing the city through fragments — windows, streets, architecture, encounters and traces of everyday life. Rather than attempting to describe Istanbul as a whole, the artist’s book constructs a shifting image of the city through drawings, photographs, found texts, collage and layered translucent pages.
The book becomes both an archive and a spatial structure. Images appear, disappear and overlap as the pages are turned, creating changing relationships between interior and exterior, memory and observation, the intimate and the urban. The window functions not simply as a motif, but as a way of seeing: a threshold through which the city is continuously framed, fragmented and reconstructed.
The project marks an important stage in my ongoing exploration of the artist’s book as a space in which image, text, material and sequence form a visual narrative — continuing an inquiry into the relationship between the book, architecture and spatial experience.
